Michael Feggans Statement on Victory in HD-97

November 7, 2023

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — Following the announcement from the Virginia House Democratic Caucus declaring victory for the Michael Feggans campaign, Feggans released the following statement:

“I am incredibly humbled to have been chosen to represent HD-97 in the Virginia House of Delegates by my neighbors in Virginia Beach. Virginia Beach has given me so much, whether it be the public education I received at Tallwood High School, or the relationships I have developed with fellow veterans in the military community here. I entered this race because I knew that the best way for me to give back to the community that raised me was by serving them in the General Assembly. To be selected to do just that is a dream come true for this kid from West Kempsville.

“But the results tonight are bigger than me. Tonight, the voters in Virginia Beach and across the Commonwealth sent a message: that women have the right to make their own medical decisions, that they want fully funded schools for their children, that my fellow veterans deserve the economic opportunities available to them, and that common sense gun safety legislation is an absolute necessity. These are the issues I campaigned on and these are the issues that I look forward to working on when I head to Richmond for session.

“Thank you to the voters who took the time to cast their ballot in this election, and to Karen Greenhalgh, who ran a formidable campaign. I also want to thank my amazing campaign team and all of the volunteers who sacrificed their time to knock on doors and make phone calls for this campaign. This result wouldn’t have been possible without them. Our campaign was powered by grassroots supporters from across the country and I will forever be grateful that they believed in our campaign. And lastly, I want to thank my mom, my dad, and my entire family who have always supported me and made me the man I am today.”
