Virginia Beach, VA – Delegate Michael Feggans (District 97) was honored as a 2025 Legislative Champion by the Virginia Education Association (VEA) during its Legislative Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, July 16, at the Marriott Richmond Downtown.

The VEA recognized 11 legislators this year, including nine Delegates and two Senators for their commitment to public education, support of educators, and advocacy for students across the Commonwealth. Delegate Feggans was recognized for his leadership and consistent support of legislation that strengthens Virginia’s public schools and uplifts the teaching profession.
“I’m appreciative to receive the 2025 VEA Legislative Champion of the Year Award,” said Delegate Feggans. “Last year, I was proud to receive the 2024 Rookie of the Year Award from the VEA, and I remain committed to standing with our educators. As the proud son of a retired public school teacher, I’ve seen firsthand the passion, sacrifice, and dedication it takes to educate and uplift our students. The VEA’s mission to unite members and communities across the Commonwealth in pursuit of high-quality public education is one I fully support. I will continue to listen, learn, and advocate alongside our educators and support professionals to build the strong public schools every student deserves.”
The Virginia Education Association, the largest union of educators in the Commonwealth, advocates for quality instruction, school funding, workers’ rights, and fair compensation. Delegate Feggans, a U.S. Air Force veteran, represents District 97 in Virginia Beach.
